Peace Offerings of Summer is the debut release by Former Lux. A compelling fusion of synth washes, orchestral pads, field recordings and found sounds which have forged a sonic aesthetic that is equal parts meditative, immersive and cerebral.

Former Lux is the guise of North East multidisciplinary artist Mark Buchanan, who after over a decade cutting his teeth in a succession of punk bands has began to explore the sweeping textures of immersive ambient soundscapes.

Composed during Coronavirus lockdown, Buchanan vowed to use the forced downtime to explore the limitless creative possibilities of laptop-based production. Looking to the landscape on his doorstep, these 4 tracks were inspired by an appreciation of the coast and the restorative, rhythmic and hypnotic qualities of The North Sea.

The emergence of Former Lux is the result of a journey of personal reflection and bold musical exploration. Peace Offerings of Summer stands up as an accomplished suite that is dramatic in its melancholy mood, sweeping in its range and ultimately, full of heart and hope.
